Local Community Partner: Healing Transitions

Starting in 2024 a portion of all J Sanders Studio Sales and Projects are donated to Healing Transitions!

As a firm believer that recovery can’t wait, my partnership with Healing Transitions began with their 2021 Art of Recovery Event and continued when I served as the Chairwoman for this event in 2022.

Healing Transitions (Raleigh, NC), is a nonprofit, recovery and rehabilitation facility for homeless people with alcohol and drug dependency. They believe that all people struggling with addiction (especially the homeless, uninsured and underserved) deserve services on demand – as many times as it takes – to find recovery. They never turn away anyone who’s seeking help.

When individuals make the brave choice to seek recovery, Healing Transitions provides the space, resources, and community support they need…

  • ALWAYS OPEN - On-demand recovery services

  • ALWAYS FREE - No financial barriers

  • ALWAYS EVERYONE - Homeless, uninsured and underserved

  • ALWAYS ANOTHER CHANCE - As many times as it takes

  • ALWAYS COMMUNITY - Peer-to-peer model

Since 2001, they have provided life-saving services to individuals in need at no cost to them…

  • LONG-TERM RECOVERY PROGRAM

  • EMERGENCY DROP-IN SHELTER

  • NON-MEDICAL DETOX

  • FAMILY SERVICES

  • OUTREACH

I support Healing Transitions BECAUSE recovery can’t wait.

Artspace

Artspace inspires positive community impact through art!

Located in the heart of downtown Raleigh, Artspace is one of the largest open studio environments in the country and the premier organization of its kind in North Carolina.

Believing that art is celebrated and valued as an essential part of our vibrant and healthy community, Artspace offers award-winning exhibitions, interactive workshops, classes, workshops and public events open to all in the community.

I have had a community facing art studio at Artspace since July 2020 and it has served as a rewarding community platform and catalyst for growth in my creative business.

Our Stories: Brave Conversations on Race

Our Stories was created in 2021 as a way to facilitate productive and informative conversations about race in our society. Rooted in community, these brave conversations encourage participants to share their first-hand stories and experiences with one another. Resources are provided to help participants better able to explain to others how they feel about race, racism and social justice.

I participated in the Our Stories series in the Spring of 2022 and look forward to serving as a facilitator for future programs!
