A series in development.
My current series explores the construction of dense paintings through the layering and manipulation of the artistic hand as it intertwines with technology. Reactive gestures are at the core of my process as thin layers of color-blocks, shapes, and hand-drawn pathways build on-top of one another.
Through the use of a Mimaki UV Printer and Trotec CO2 lasers, additional layers are manipulated, added and removed from the space. This technology-infused studio practice enables me to manipulate the organic forms with precision that is often reserved for industry, mass production and scientific research. Combining these two opposing processes explores the boundaries between reactive organic and mechanical planned forms.
